Writing instructions

In class you have written instructions about making a volcano.  Can you now write some instructions about making a lego animation.  Here is a link to some lego breakdancing:

Remember to use connectives!  Also make sure that you do not have really short steps - most should be at least 2 sentences.

You have begun your lego animations in class - what have you done so far and what will you need to do next?

Awesome Alliteration

In class for the past two weeks we have been looking at journalistic writing (being reporters).  Can you write the first paragraph for a newspaper report about the school.  Imagine that we have found an ancient treasure chest full of gold.  Make sure that you use an alliterated title - all of the words beginning with the same letter.

I have done an example for an earthquake - remember you need to do a treasure chest!

My example:

Now you have a go.

In the story of Beowulf there is a creature named Grendel.  Here is the authors description of him:

Evil suited Grendel.  Half-man, half fiend, he was an extraordinary creature with supernatural strength.  Covered in a green, horny skin that no sword could cut through, he came from a race of sea monsters, giants  and other outcasts.

Can you describe the monster below in four sentences that are as effective as these?  Remember to think about adjectives (descriptive words for the monster).

Using adverbs

Hi - glad you have found the page!

This week we have been looking at how adverbs can make your sentences more meaningful.  There are 10 verbs and 10 adverbs in the list below.  Can you make 10 sentences using at least each word once.  There should be one verb and adverb in each sentence.  Don't write them down.  Type them up and post them to this blog!
